Things to do in Salcombe & locally
Here a few ideas to make the most of your stay
On the Beaches!
On the Water!
Sailing, paddleboarding, coasteering or kayaking via Island Cruising Club, Salcombe Watersports or Adventure South.
Just 'chugging' around the estuary in a hire boat (Whitestrand Boat Hire) to relax and take in the beautiful scenery and sea air.
Contact the Salcombe Tourist Information Centre for other suppliers. Tel: 01548 843927
Take a short trip on the South Sands Ferry to Salcombe & or longer trip on The Rivermaid Ferry to Kingsbridge. Both operate seasonally.
Surfing or Boogie Boarding at Bantham.
Sand castle competitions, French cricket or shrimp netting in rock pools on North Sands.
Swimming and snorkelling off the beaches.
Fishing off the rocks, in a hire boat or an organised trip
A picnic on Sunny Cove or Mill Bay Reach on foot via the East Portlemouth ferry or make a circa 45 minute drive around to the other side of the estuary via Kingsbridge and Frogmore.
Overbecks Gardens & Museum - wonderful views of the coast and estuary with exceptional exotic plants including a massive Himalayan Magnolia and Japanese banana trees. In the museum there is a secret room with dolls, tin soldiers, a quiz and a ghost hunt for children.
Coastal walks - to Bolt Head, Bolberry, Hope Cove, Snapes Point or Gara Rock + a well-earned beer or cream tea at the end!
