Holiday cottages in South Devon - Salcombe

For food shopping - there is Cranches in Fore St., Spar in Loring Rd, a CO-OP at the Texaco in Malborough and supermarkets in Kingsbridge (20 min drive).  Alternatively some guests shop online via Tesco or Sainsbury's for home delivery to the cottages.

 

Over the hill behind the cottages lies South Sands beach (great watersports), the South Sands ferry service to town, Overbecks National Trust museum and beautiful clifftop walks.

 

Getting there

By Car

Follow the M5 or A303 to Exeter, then follow the A38 to Plymouth (The Devon Expressway). Turn off A38 at Totnes turn, following signs to Kingsbridge and then Salcombe. If you miss this turn-off take the 'Yealmpton' turn following signs to Loddiswell, Kingsbridge and Salcombe. On entering Salcombe ignore signs to the town centre and take the turn to North Sands and Overbecks, down Sandhills Road (zig zags)

 

By Train : London Paddington to Totnes (40 min drive or local buses to Salcombe)

By Plane : Exeter or Bristol Airport + hire car

The cottages are located in South Devon in North Sands in the town of Salcombe.  Salcombe is in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

 

North Sands has a beach, tennis court, park and excellent restaurant and brasserie.

 

A 15 minute walk along Cliff Road brings you to the hustle and bustle of Salcombe. This is a lovely scenic walk in the mornings as you go to the Upper Crust bakery to buy your patisserie and the newspapers or a star-gazing amble in the evenings on the way back from the restaurants and pubs.
